“Feral free agent” — the best description of people doing their own thing who aren’t chasing business deals or waiting for work to arrive.
We’ve gotten so used to identifying ourselves with jobs that we’ve forgotten what it’s like to just be ourselves. None of the usual labels (entrepreneur, freelancer, self-employed) fit what I think of as independent work, this article is the closest that comes close to naming it, yet free-agent sounds wrong.
