Dive straight in so the audience forgets they're standing there listening to you.

To breath life into a story, you want to sweep your audience up as quickly as possible. Make them forget that they are sitting or standing with you. You want to just dive right in and drag them along with you. It gives is momentum like we are actually going somewhere.
