Why we need systems

You aren't consistent. Systems take the decision off the day you slept badly.

Wherever there is uncertainty there has got to be judgment,” said Redelmeier, “and wherever there is judgment there is an opportunity for human fallibility.

The need for checklists, systems and processes isn’t just order for the sake of order, it’s to reduce the mental energy needed to make decisions on the spot. Especially when it’s a routine or critical thing.

We aren’t consistent, it depends how well we slept, how we feel that day, or even whether we have eaten in the last 3 days. Instead of relying on that, if we can systemize most parts, we can produce pretty consistent things.
